FS: R9s (Farmingdale model NIB) *SOLD*
« on: January 07, 2011, 11:16:43 AM »
** SOLD ** SOLD ** SOLD ** SOLD ** SOLD ** SOLD **

For Sale a Farmingdale model R9 with the rare R9s engraved on the slide. Serial # R419.
Here is the information provided to me by the seller.

I originally sold this to a local guy back in 2004. He had me order him a Robar and traded it. He says he never shot it and it looks like it.

So it is New In The Box and Unfired since 2004. :o

The price is $1200 Shipped to your FFL

Here is the sellers contact info    bdwinscher@charter.net

I have no stake in this sale and do not know the seller personally, I'm listing it because he was kind enough to contact me and offer it to me before listing it elsewhere.
I am looking for a Pre R model with Blue CF Grips.

This is a STEAL folks!  I emailed the seller and got a couple more pictures of the gun and although you can't tell it from the pictures posted here THE GRIPS ON R419 ARE BLUE CF.

This gun has some good, good stuff going for it

-Early Farmingdale gun
-"s" marked slide
-Blue cf's
-Not been shot since leaving the factory in 2004!!

If I had the extra $$ I would be all over this gun!

I have seen the additional pics too and I must say that those are the blackest pair of blue cf grips I have ever seen. Maybe they were running low on blue cf at the time and decided to ration it out  ;)  Other than that she looks nice and the price is pretty good.

IMO the cf patterning/weaving/hazing seems like it is the problem. As a result, the blue cf is not being seen. Even on the closeups I have, the blue cf is barely visible. CF grips vary so much and I have seen some really nice ones and some that are less than desirable. With that said, this is still a pretty good deal.

I contacted the seller and he said they are Black, I know that Corey has probably seen more Blue CF grips than anyone on the forum, with the possible exception of Tom Watson.
I'll have to take his word for it as I have never seen a pair of
Blue CFs in person.
But the seller is Not calling them Blue, if you have questions or concerns contact info for the seller is.

One of those R9s slides that are on a R prefix gun..

Blue CFs on a numbered gun that is a bit out of the range for that also..

I'd still buy it also if the samolians were available!!

Or a trade was acceptable..

In my deep, dark recesses I remember the word, "Samoiis" from a childhood "B" grade Saturday morning movie.

For what its worth, Eric R. thinks those are some of the original blue CF grips, which were actually had blue specks in the blackish CF grips.  Eric thinks that frame number is consistent with that.  This was more the color that the R-Bros intended with the grips -- eventually they got too blue and too inconsistent in the production process.

When the blue became too prominent -- they nixed the blue altogether.

I edited this post to try and be more accurate.  These appear to be the best of the blue CF grips.  If we had better pics, we could tell for sure.
