A sightless late run R9!? Yes, that would have been a made to order gun or perhaps I found a few more None-S slides to build. Ha haa . . . . .  but definitely a rare item.
Most R9's, later on, were mostly sighted.

Interesting to see where it goes,   I think it's not a bad buy at the BN price.

This could be a steal for someone, and become a significant part of their collection.

The bidding has gotten hot and heavy, up to $662 as of 2:10 Sunday.

I will be surprised if it doesn't get sold for a lot more.

True if there are no reliability or defective issues. In any case it is less than the original MSRP. It seems that there are two categories of R9 buyers at this time: collectors and EDC'ers, with some of both also in the wings.

The two groups buy guns from opposite ends of the serial number ranges. The EDC’ers want the later guns with all the upgrades and the collectors want the early blue CF farmies.

I am in the middle because the first one I bought in 2004 was for EDC. When I picked it up from Tom Watson at his house in Garland TX I thought that it was so pristine that I didn't want to fire or carry it. So, later I bought #747 from Tom for EDC and so it remains today. I had to talk him out of that S/N because I have a 747 ATP rating; he was very gracious about it.
