Research resulted in this (below) and come other comments that the .327 is very snappy with loud muzzle blast, although none specified which weight bullets were used. Note also that the pistol was an SP101 which is quite heavy, at least mine in .357 certainly is.

Don’t fall for the low recoil hype, it is pure BS.
The .327 Fed Mag is only slightly below a 125 Gr .357 and well over all 38 Special loads!
These were tests using 2 Ruger SP101’s, one in 357 the other in .327 Fed.
Recoil is based on Gun Weight, Bullet Weight, Powder Weight and Velocity… There is no room in the formula for Magic Wishes…
Now by dropping to the .32 H&R Mag or .32 S&W Long the recoil is about ˝. But think of the shock when you try a defense load!
