I change out recoil springs every 200 rounds or so. Early on, I stocked up on the original design of spring (closed on one end only), but my supply is running low and it's about time to order a number of the new design (closed on both ends).

Those grips Brian made for me have been on the R9 since I received them early this year. He made them by overlaying the leather on a standard pair of Hogue grips. I don't know how he achieved the result, whether by thinning the leather or grinding down the Hogues or both, but the result was to add only minimal thickness to the grips. Recognizing that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," I have found them to be as functional as they are good looking.
As I understand it, Brian prefers to work with sting ray leather, and the results he achieves with that medium are stunning. I chose to "Africanize" my R9 for personal reasons based on four of the more . . . interesting . . . years in my past.
