Tom Watson
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:35:01 PM »
I am new to this forum and have done research on here as I am interested in buying a Rohrbaugh 9mm.  I was going to purchase one from Tom as I e-mailed him about a month ago.  I recently called him to ask him a few questions about the types or variations of the gun prior to purchase and was sadened to hear he recently passed away.  May God be with his family!

Per my question:  Does the stainless R9 hold up better than the stealth?  Also, I see there is a tribute addition, does this show less wear as the frame is the same color as the top of the gun.  Other than the grips is there an advantage to the tribute addition?  When was the tribute additon made in tearm of dates?

Thanks for the help :-)

How recently did you attempt to call him?  He was last active on this forum on 05 March - so just last week.

Very sad to hear of Tom's passing; he was a true gentleman and a pillar of towering substance on this forum.

Words fail me. I knew that Tom was in fragile health of late, but this is tragic news. We and the Forum have lost a good and true friend, a gentleman of the highest rank.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tom.  REQUIESCAT IN PACE.

For the members who did not know, Tom had suffered from Muscular Dystrophy for years and was confined to a wheel chair in 2004 when I went to his house and first visited with him. He will be greatly missed.

This is so sad, I just talked to him not long ago. My R9 seems so much more special now knowing that Tom helped me get it. He was so helpful in my search, and answers many questions for me. This is such a loss.

This is not how I wanted my first post to be. I just received my R9 just 5 days ago from Tom. He was a good man to talk to. I emailed him the other day letting him know my Pup ran flawless. He emailed me back and said he was glad to hear and thanking me for my business. This is truly sad.

Renrew, I asked Tom the same question when I was ordering. He said there was no difference. Just the blackened slide. It is a shoot a little, carry a lot pistol.

Thanks saltz1979!  Tom was a gentleman with me as we'll, and very helpful.  In reading his posts was a very unique individual.  May he rest in peace.

I ordered a tribute model today from Maria at the company.  She was very nice and helpful.  I told her that Tom was helping me before he passed away and she was extremely upset as she knew him well.

Thanks for all the good info on this forum gentlemen.
