First time out with new R9

Finally got my new R9 out for it's inaugural shooting. I shot the Winchester silver tips. I put 30 rounds through it, and everything worked great. The gun feels great and handles very well. I was a little skeptical before I fired it, but with each new 6 rounds the confidence grew. I shot 3 clips as fast as I could pull the trigger to finish, and the gun worked flawlessly.

It will now be my everyday carry pistol.

Now I'm back to being skeptical, because I have to disassemble it for the first time !!

Welcome and congratulations.  I echo the sentiments above by Tracker and Reinz.

A review of the FAQ Site and some of the threads on the Cleaning and Maintenance section of the Forum should be helpful in disassembly/reassembly of the pistol. And remember that reinsertion of the barrel pin will be a lot easier if you take care to insure that the recoil assembly is aligned vertically (i.e., level) and centered laterally in the slide when the slide is mated to the frame.

I had a lot of trouble the first time I disassembled it. 

I didn't even get around to buying those tools and I can field strip it and put it back together relatively easy now.

I do have fairly strong hands though  I work out with GripMaster finger exercisers and Captains of Crush gripppers, so I'm sure that helps.  In the manual it shows the field stripping steps and then says to just reverse the steps to put it back together - well I've found that putting the slide on with my right hand is easier for putting it back together.  I hold the pistol just the way it shows in the manual but I am holding it with my right hand not my left - that faces the larger pin hole toward me.

Damn it, I knew I should have crushed all of those beer cans with my hands instead of smashing them on my forehead !!!

Also might account for not being able to remember how to put it back together once you have it apart.
