Gold Dots available
« on: January 09, 2013, 09:29:51 PM »
If anyone is looking for Gold Dot 115s, I found boxes of 50 for $25.90 at a place called Ventura Munitions--- I ordered some last night and got an email today saying they were shipped--quick service!   I think that's a good price given the run on ammo the past few weeks.

No relation to them-- just passing along a great price.....

Has anyone compared whether Gold Dot 124 or 115 work best in these R9s or is there no real difference?

I have tried both and they worked equally well for me. However, it seems that the consensus resides with the 124 gr. That is just a subjective anecdotal compilation of reading many forum member's comments.

I've tried both and they worked equally well for me too.

I like the 115 as there seems (to me at least) a little less recoil (and 10 ft lbs more energy than the 124s (374 vs 364) but that's likely not enough to make any real difference)

Cheapest price I could find on GD 124s was $32.95 per 50 from Ammo to Go---$7 more a box!

Basically, just buy whichever one is on the shelf.

I little less perceived recoil with the 115's, but I would use the 124's if available and they function in your R9. Remember, you're launching the bullet from a VERY short barrel, as a general rule of thumb the heavier projectile will penetrate deeper with all other things being equal.

That is my view as well. However, as Tracker has noted, buy whichever one you can wherever you can find it.

And by the way, I've taken my own advice and ordered a supply of the 115s. Thank you for the link, JB.

For a number of reasons of which we are all aware, such reasonable prices may soon disappear.

My order was placed at 10:30 am. I received notice of shipment at 12:27pm. That's impressive.

And I just checked that page and it says "item currently unavailable" and "please check back later."

Oh well.  The early bird gets the Gold Dots and the late sleepers get the worm casting.   :(

Glad to help!

For those still in need of an ammo replenishment,  Ammo To Go shows they have GD 124s and 115s and 124 hydra shocks in stock--- running about $30-35 per 50.  (interestingly, they have GD 124 +P+ s for $26--too bad we can't use those!)

Thanks again, JB!

For the K380 owners on the Forum, they also show availability of 20-round boxes of  .380 ACP Speer Gold Dot 90gr. HP Ammo at $17.95.

Thanks for the link but the s&h is about half of the order cost.
