It's been quite a while since I've last visited. Lots of major changes in my life has occupied much of my time. I hope to be a more frequent contributor from this point forward.
I fell in love with the R9 for the simple reason that it's the most compact 9mm made, and it's very well made. I live in Texas, where needless to say, it gets damn hot for most of the year, and it can be difficult to conceal even subcompact pistols without over-dressing for the temps. I find IWB carry to be uncomfortable. So, pocket carry is an appealing option for me. Unfortunately, most pocket pistols are chambered for marginal cartridges I wouldn't choose for primary self-defense, and many also have bad triggers. 9mm is the lightest cartridge I'm willing to accept for primary carry, and I believe it's a sensible compromise in exchange for the R9's tiny form factor. It's intelligently designed, as mechanically simple as pistols get, and snag-free. Mine runs flawlessly on a diet of 115 Gold Dots, and shoots way better than I expected for a pistol of its size. The fact it has the best DAO trigger of any pocket pistol I've tried is icing on the cake.
Besides the fact the R9 offers a lot of performance for its size, I just appreciate anything that's well-made. I'm a manufacturing engineer and GM of a machine shop, so I appreciate well-designed, well-machined, well-fitted and finished products.
For these reasons, my Stealth and I were meant for each other. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I can't imagine a better deep concealment pistol.
