Use any gun care product you like and the R9 will work fine.

As Jack notes, any quality gun cleaning products should do the job. You might check out the Ballistol line and, my current choice, Frog Lube.

Jack:

E-mail sent. I'll be away from the computer for a few hours but will check in when I return to the cabin.

Nathan,

I use Eezox based on forum advice and it has been great. All other weapons get Weapon Shield.

The only thing that makes me leary about Eezox is that it has chlorinated esters in it, and it doesn't take much chlorine to cause corrosion in stainless steel.

I used CLP for years and as far as all-in-one products go I think it's about as optimal as you can get in a product that does 3 things well.

But for pure cleaning there are better products.

I now use Ed's Red for cleaning.  Sometimes for light cleaning I just use half & half ATF & mineral oil.

I don't have an R9 (yet) but I use a combination of Mobil 1 and Lubriblate SFL-0 on my firearms.  Mobil 1 on all the lube points except the rails, the rails get a small amount of Lubriplate SFL-0

I use Lubriplate SFL-0 (or Green equivalent) on the Rails,
Frog Lube on everything else metal,
Renaissance Wax in and on the Leather Holster.

I had been using Hoppe's No.9 Solvent
to clean out the Barrel and to remove
other residue and foulings though all
of that just wipe off for the most part
ever since I started coating EVERYTHING
metal with Frog Lube. I hope it doesn't turn
out to be bad like Eezox and weaken the
metal causing fractures.

I have Synthetic Transmission Fluid
and Mobile 1 Synthetic Engine Oil
which I use for my car but haven't
tried them on any Gun.....yet.
I may try Transmission Fluid on
the Trigger Pivot but I'm using
Frog Lube on that and the trigger
is wonderful.

Bill:

Try the Renaissance Wax on the R9's outer surface and prepare to be amazed. If you have seen photos of my 8-year old R9, the pristine condition of its finish is due largely to the protection afforded by Renaissance Wax. I figure that anything good enough for the collection in the NRA Museum is good enough for my little arsenal.

Hi Richard, I would put Renaissance Wax on the PUP
but I pretty much dunk it in a bucket of Frog Lube.
So I use the R-Wax on the Leather Holster that way
it does get to molest my PUP....sort a'.

I have been using the R. Wax on my K380s and its awesome!!  Th finish just glows...especially on the blue CF grips.  Wish I knew about this product earlier....I now use it on my wood and granite as well.
