I found out today that there is a 2 to 3 month wait on getting a new from factory R9.

Count,

As I am sure you have seen there are some very nice guns for sale in the classifieds. I think I remember you saying that you were looking for a stealth; I don't think there is a stealth for sale but there is a like new stealth Elite at a reasonable price considering they only ever made 50 of them. No relation to seller etc. but that would cut your waiting time and in the end you would end up with a nice limited edition gun.

Other than that I am glad to hear that the R-brothers have such great demand for their fine pistols.

Actually if I could have my dream R9 it would just be unfinished, then I'd get front & back strap checkering, and then I'd send it to Robar to get the whole thing finished with NP3+   :)

The Deerdale Z has listed is a steal and the perfect candidate for that sort of thing.  Not sure how much the custom work costs but it seems like it wouldn't be much more
Than a new two tone if you can pick up the base gun cheap enough.  Just ideas.

So R9s have a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original owner, right?

If I purchase a second hand R9, I'm getting a pistol with no warranty...

Count,

You are for the most part correct. New guns come with a blank warranty card with just the serial number on it - whoever fills it out and sends it in gets the non-transferable lifetime warranty. Sometimes you can buy a second-hand R9 with a blank card and send it in and you will get the warranty - so look for that. There are also a few problems that will be corrected by the factory without a warranty, the limited frame cracking in some of the R600-R2000 range guns is one of those problems.
You can also buy a warranty if you get a used gun. I believe they charge $150 and you have to send the gun in and they will go through it and often replace and update things (warning - think twice before sending a rare early Farmingdale in for rewarranty if the gun does not have any major problems.) You can also get a used gun and only purchase the warranty in the rare chance you have a problem - this is what I would do as these are really well made guns  and you are unlikely to have a problem. Best of luck.

I purchased my PUP a few months ago.
Inside of the PUP's box was the un-filled
out warranty card. On the card it clearly
stated that this Warranty MUST be filled
out and RETURNED to Rohrbaugh within
30 days in order to activate your warranty.

Let me add that I had called Maria at
Rohrbaugh shortly after I had purchased
the PUP and she stated that the Warranty
must be filled out and returned. She also
took down my information at that time.

I would bet that since Rohrbaugh is a small
family run company that if you were the
original purchaser and  bought a PUP and
had a legitimate problem they would repair
or replace your PUP without regard to weather
you filled out their warranty card. Don't
forget that different states require manufacturers
or sellers of new products to warranty what
they sell. What I'm trying to say is in many
states it wouldn't matter weather you filled
out the warranty card or not.

The best plan of action is to fill it out.

I have asked Maria about this and she said they warranty the gun to the first person who sends in the card even if it is after the 30 days, even though they state otherwise on the card. She said they put that on there so people who buy the gun new don't wait around to send in the card and end up losing it and still wanting their warranty. So as Bill said best course of action is to fill out the card and send it in when you get the gun, but if you buy used with a blank card I am willing to bet they will honor the warranty when you send it in.
