GONE: William Henry T12 Carbon Fiber Damascus Folder
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:12:11 PM »

THIS KNIFE HAS BEEN TRADED OFF
THNX EVERYONE!  :)

(my photo)

William Henry T12 CFD

T12 Spearpoint
Carbon Fiber Scales
Stainless Raindrop Damascus Steel

William Henry is a name derived from the middle names of the original owners, Matthew William Conable and Michael Henry Honack.

The T12 CFD model is quite rare. Factory titled " *Special Production* ". It is believed that less than 200 were produced.

The carbon fiber handles are crafted from exceptionally strong solid twill-weave carbon fiber, shaped, contoured and satin finished by hand.
The bolster-less design and high-tech materials make this an exceptionally lightweight knife.

The Mike Norris hand-crafted blade material is called “Forge Welded Stainless Raindrop Damascus Steel”.

Thumb button is a brilliant colorful natural Opal mounted in a stainless stud.

It's titanium pocket clip is electricity-anodized in a deep blue-purple, as is the linerlock.

Weight is an amazingly light 1.5 ounces. Overall length is 7 1/16”. Blade length is 3 1/16”.

This titanium linerlock model places it in the “T” series.
It's unique size with a spearpoint shaped blade puts it in the “12” series.
The "CFD" stands for Carbon Fiber Damascus.
All together this particular model is the William Henry T12 CFD.

Hey guys, this is the finest knife I own, but it's time for a new caretaker.

Like new, in box with documentation and new black leather slip-case with WH logo.

all relative i guess, seeing that WH has had knives that ran well over $50,000 (true!)

here's some pixs of a few of their fancier jeweled ones: http://www.bornrich.com/william-henrys-bejeweled-creations-quintessential-man.html

but the T12 CFD was rich enough for my blood :P

thnx for the good wishes.

Yes $950 is a lot of Money for a knife, but for W-H it is at the lower end of the spectrum. My Damascus Blade W-H cost far more.
The quality is always there, the cost savings is in the various materials used. William-Henrys are meant to be "Art you can use".

Most art you would use by displaying.  "Use" this art and the value crashes if value is of concern.  This is a gorgeous collector's piece, but no way I could afford to own it just to keep it in the gunsafe.  I do love seeing them however...thanks for the picture Coyote!

thnx chief. well said.

and you're right backupr9.

seeing that i can have as many "working" folders as i want, this one is owned as simply "a true work of art".

but if limited to owning just one knife (oh the horror!) i would chose this one. it is definitely a stunningly perfect edc that you could depend on while still enjoying just looking/holding it.

and it isn't just sitting in my safe, i keep it on my desk, laying on a mircofiber cloth, so i can enjoy looking at it everyday.

My problem with the William-Henry is that if I can see it I am going to be holding/operating it. The action is butter smooth.

That is a really beautiful knife, of course it goes beyond that into the realm of art as do all of William Henry's knives I have seen and handled. The materials used in his knives are supurb and of the highest quality available and the craftsmanship cannot be beat. If things straighten out here a bit I am going to be looking, and saving for an automatic William Henry

How well does it cut?

Not sure about this particular knife but My William-Henry Gen Tac Damascus was sent to Japan to have the blade worked on by a Master Samarai Sword maker. W-H spares no Expense.  My knife is so sharp you have to be careful because you can cut yourself and may not know it to you see blood.  From time to time you can send the knife back to them and they will put the edge back on it also.

"How well does it cut?"

i've tested this little damascus on 55 gallon drums. punched holes right through, but never left a mark on the blade. i even did the Buck-knife-logo-test where i cut a nail in half with it - again, no damage. its also great for prying rocks out of the ground. and as you can tell by the photo above, it still looks like it just came out of the box.  :P  (i'm kidding, just kidding!)

having owned at least a couple dozen WH over the years, every single one has been an incredible cutter, regardless of the steel used. it must be due to the quality of the tempering and the geometry of the thin blades. beauty and function. it doesn't get any better (i say the same thing about Rohrbaughs).

FYI - WH's Japanese blade grinder is Kiku Matsuda

He is now 56, and his 40 years experiences and techniques have proved to be a best grinder in the world: "William Henry Knives... all of their custom grade blades are being hand ground and polished by him."
