Did not shoot one yet, but I will soon...   ;)   Got to fondle it at SHOT.  I am very excited about this one.  Hope it will be available in 9mm soon.  Just .40 S&W for now.

The other hiccup I see is the double stack and wide girth for the relative competitive arena, but it looks good.

I only have one Sig .....a P220.....I have shot others Sigs but for $1100+ I probably would stay with my Glock 36

Retail and street prices are often quite different.

Its an all-metal Sig in the "Classic" line.  The price point is not unexpected.  But which one is that -- there are four different finishes I think.  Also, don't forget it includes night sights.

It does shoot well for compact size 45acp ;)...I have a couple of Milt Sparks holsters for mine....I carry  it when out in the woods on rainy days......don't want to get the safe queens wet ;D

Good points....I'm not sure which one...the price was given on a Sig You Tube Shot video

I own several old Sigs which are great but a new one will have to prove it to me at any price point. Glocks, with very few glitches, have risen to the top of reliability, accuracy, etc. Pretty is as pretty does in a hand gun.

And unlike the Glock 36, the P224 will accept P226 and P229 magazines...   ;)

It will be a natural for those who own and love the larger guns.

There have been some issues with the current generation....I think they have them resolved....If I could only have one handgun it would be a Glock

There is scant comparison in my view between the Glock 36 and the Sig 224: .45 ACP, 1.13" width, and 60 per cent of the MSRP; plus all Glock parts are readily available and drop-in with any qualified Glock armorer. Possibly, Glock doesn't schmooze the marketers and writers like Sig does because the performance speaks for itself. Sig is not at the top of the list on customer service lately, either. We shall see.

I wasn't making any comparison other than the fact that the Glock 36 is a bit of a red-headed step child in the Glock line because of the single stack capability.

I love Glocks and have a 17, 19 and 26.  I will likely have a 34 at some point.  However, I have Sigs too and I can understand why they are more expensive.  They both work great, but the Sigs have a nicer appearance and fit and finish.

Not sure why you suggest Sig schoozes writers...  Has the unstoppable Glock love train been derailed and I missed it?  People love Glocks.  Rappers sing about them.  I don't think they have any PR problems.

My only complaint with Glock is that they haven't done anything innovative in a while.  The Gen4 didn't break any new ground.  I guess if its not broke, don't fix it.  I still prefer Gen 3 (or even Gen 2) guns to the Gen 4 stuff.

Aren't we fortunate to have all of these wonderful products, regardless of the manufacturer? It just seems to me from a consumer viewpoint that there are substantial marketing budgets from companies like S&W and Sig. I just don't see the same plethora of ads and articles from Glock, but you are right about the lack of new and innovative models. They seem to have developed quite a successful business model, not unlike the  same consistent culture of Southwest Airlines with a Six Sigma consistency, just like McDonalds.
