Wildey appears to have gone out of business according to The Firearm Blog, and there's the H&K P7 & the Steyr GB; there's probably others.

I don't have one, however, have heard everything good about them.  There's a lot here on the Forum.

I shoot Auto Mags so when Wildey chambered their pistol for the 44 AMP I got one.

Believe me, they are nothing like the Auto Mag.

Jack, I was interested in buying a P7 last month, mostly due to recommendations from a friend on another forum who carries a renovated/upgraded P7.  I found one in a local gunshop, but the squeeze cocker/trigger pull combo was really a downer for me, and it didn't feel all that good in my hand.  Others love it.  Would recommend you find one and shoot it before dropping $700+, and would also do some research as to serial numbers, etc.  Many are older German police guns imported and cleaned up with added protective finishes before resale...some are OK and some aren't.  I may have tried one of the bad ones.

MRC.  There's an Auto Mag on GunBroker.  Would you recommend it?  Maybe not this one in particular, but the Auto Mag, in general.

I have two that I value highly:

___

Edited to note: I was engaged in and about to "award the contract" to upgrade the "bling" factor of the DE-50's grips when John (our "Yankee") dangled before me a set of old ivory grips with medallions for my venerable Colt Mustang. Being a "balanced-budget" type, I have set back the DE upgrade for a few weeks.

kj

I have been shooting Auto Mags for about 15 years and started collecting them about 5 years ago.  Yes, I would recommend them as they are the most interesting and fascinating firearms I have seen owned.  The history of the company and the design is a story in its self.

As far as buying one,  be careful  These guns are all 35 to 40 years old and many parts are not available.  You really need to handload to own one of these in my opinion.  Corbon sells 44AMP ammo but it is meant for hunting and is loaded very hot and I would not recommend a steady diet of the in your AMP.  No one loads the 357 that I know of.

Many pistols being sold on the auctions are in poor shape due to abuse by previous owners.  If buying one here are my recomendations:
-Demand a 3 day inspection period
-Demand to see pictures of the internals
-Only buy from reputable dealers who know what they are selling ( I have found that the only thing that many of the sellers kniow about them is they are worth a lot of money)

Here is a link that might help.  You must do your homework before you buy.
