H&K45

Does anyone have a H&K45? I'm thinking about adding one to my collection and would be interested in your opinions.

No experience with the .45.  I have an older H&K USP-C in 40 cal that shoots everything I put in it, is accurate even at 50 yards (the extent of my ability with a pistol) and never fails to fire.  I don't carry it anymore but it sits at my bedside every night and I take it to the range every two or 3 months.  H&K builds really nice pistols.

Like Backup, no experience with the 4, but I have a USP-c in 9mm. Get the 45, you can't go wrong with HK. Their reliability is on par with Glocks and are a blast to shoot. They also seem to hold their value pretty well so you won't loose too much if you decide to sell it later.

I would encourage you to check out the Springfield XDm series.  They seem to have the features of Glock, Sig and H&K all rolled into one and they are a much better value, gun for gun, in my opinion.  That being said, I have never heard of a H&K owner being disapointed....can say same for XD and Sig as well though.  A good buddy (and active duty SEAL) swears by the H&K.  Can't go wrong, but it might be worth checking out a couple others.

Thanks for the XD information. I currently have four 45's that I carrry at various times. I have heard nothing but great things about H&K. I have never owned one.  I carry a Wilson Combat Compact CQB, the Bill Wislon Model the most followed by a full size Wilson CQB. A Sig P220 and Glock 36 are carried in extreme weather conditions.

One of the many positive aspects of Glocks is the ease and availability of parts; additionally, a qualified glock armorer can do local repairs if necessary. The high quality of most guns mentioned here on the forum makes it a moot point because repairs are seldom necessary. In times of crisis, however, it may not be practical to return a gun to the factory or look for scarce parts in the case of HK products, for example.

I have recently picked up a used HK USP .45 and so far have nothing but positive reviews of it.  Eats up everything I feed it, accurate, reliable, it's what you'd expect from HK.  Ergonomics are superior to the Glock by a long shot in my opinion, but fall short of the XDm.  It's a great pistol, but I'd encourage you to hold one, make sure you like the feel of it, because it for sure won't ever let you down.

Have fired my cousin's XDM...smooth pistol, but didn't suit my hand...like my H&K USP-C better and consequently have better accuracy with it.  Would encourage any buyer of a pistol to see if it fits your hand and makes a good sight picture before buying (this from someone who put himself on the Boberg list without ever seeing one much less holding it).

Don't have a HK45 but have 3 other HKs ---all in 9mm.  They are bulletproof-- pardon the pun.   The ergonomics fit me well and my wife carries a P2000sk in 9mm as she doesnt like the recoil of my R9s.
There is a great forum dedicated to HK ---lots of great folks like on this forum.   www.hkpro.com
