KAHR CM9
« on: November 24, 2011, 06:21:31 PM »
Some of you may recall from previous posts that I had tried two other Kahr pistols in the past and was totally disappointed in them.  One was a PM40, probably one of the first ones on the market, and the other was a older model CW9…you may also recall that I was very pleased with the company…they took care of me and after returning the PM40 to the factory for the second time, they send me a full refund check.  So, over the past several years I’ve not been interested in the Kahr line at all, but had continued to hear good things about them to include comments from some of you on this forum.  I had been reading about the CM9 and how it was basically the same gun as the PM9 with less features (front sight staked in, slide markings stamped, one magazine and the barrel rifled) therefore keeping the cost down.  Last weekend I came across what I thought was a decent enough deal on one to give it a try.  Range Day:  I’ll start by saying that I took the gun out of the box, disassembled, reassembled and that was it.  Didn’t clean or lube or anything…just a safety inspection.  Kahr pistols come with a recommendation to fire 200 rounds for a break in.  It also (unlike the SOLO) does not come with the “premium ammo only” stipulation.”  I shot Georgia Arms 115gr ball and Blazer brass 115gr ball.  I put 270 rounds through the gun as quick as I could load the magazine 5 rounds at a time.  At round 240 I had a single FTE…I cleared it, and kept shooting.  The slide locked back on the empty magazine every time (unlike the SOLO) and the sights were easy to acquire.  I was shooting at 25 feet and found it to be very accurate.  I shot two handed, one handed, left and right handed, and even held it very loosely and still no issues (except for the one already noted).

Toad, good range report and glad your pleased with it. I only have a PM40 left and like it a lot, but I had no issues with my P380 or PM9 but the PM9 wasn't with me long. (traded it for my second R9)

Put another 100 rounds through it today with no issues.  I did clean and lube it this time before going to the range.  With the exception of 20 rounds of Speer Gold Dots at the end, the rest were Georgia Arms 115gr ball.  Put 150 rounds through the R9 today too, only had one FTF, but she sent bang on second squeeze of the trigger.  That was with the Georgia Arms.  Also fired 10 rounds of Remington Golden Sabre 124gr BJHP and 10 rounds of Gold Dots with zero issues.  Been carrying the Remington in the Pup for some time now.

Thanks for the report.

Love to see positive reports about any gun.  Especially American ones.
