R45
« on: November 30, 2006, 01:05:57 AM »
I think a scaled up form of the pup in 45 would be wonderful -- not as a pocket gun, but as a primary -- I'd really love that trigger, and try to lighten the gun as much as possible, while still controllable.

~A local E.R. Doctor once said:
“The bangers that are shot up with a 9mm are what I normally treat for gun shot wounds.  The ones shot with a 45 usually go down to the basement (morgue) and I don't see them.”

think I'll let Duane suggest that one at the SHOT show...they probably don't want to hear someone suggest even more work...besides, I'm already going to have to talk some mag springs out of them...

It appears that an R45 is in the works!

I spent the last two days at the ShowShow -- had a chance to visit the Rohrbaugh booth a couple of times and finally meet the brothers face-to-face.

Tonight, I was thumbing through "Official Shot Show Directory and Buyer's Guide 2007"....

Under Rohrbaugh Firearms Corporation, I quote the following -- right out of the directory:

Quote
All Rohrbaugh R9 9mm pistols are precision CNC machined from solid billets of 17-4PH stainless for the slide and smaller internal parts, 7075-T651 aluminum for the frame and 416 stainless for the barrels.  Parts are then hand fit for a superior self-defense weapon where size, weight and deep concealment are of consideration. Other calibers to be available in the future include: .380 and .45

So, Aglifter -- ask and you may receive.... ;D
I'm not a gun expert -- but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

R45,
On the same size frame? Wow...

I would think a larger frame would be needed for sure.. ;)

It is good that the Bros R,are looking at different platforms for the future!!

Will await more info!! ;D

I was told it will be on a 25% larger frame.  As long as they're designing a new gun, I wish they'd look at

http://www.tusseycustom.com/articlekimbercompacts.htm

Tussey designed a really nice snagless sight -- it's an XS big dot sight sunk down in a groove on the slide of a 1911.  Seems like a pretty interesting idea...

Thanks Aglifter, very cool idea. I think this would be an obvious way to keep the covert .45 size and weight down.

Also jaycee mentioned his order was already placed. Any idea jaycee of the details at this point, such as dimensions, weight, cost?

Very intersted as I have always carried a .45 as my primary.

Thanks~Ferg
It may be called a "mouse gun", but because it is easy to carry in a very wide range of circumstancs, the deep concealment pistol fufills the first rule of gunfighting (ie: bring a gun).
