As a writer, all of this is frustrating to me too.
Kel-Tec's KSG is an example. I don' t think it was ready to go last year. But, KT also has a problem with their supply chain. You still can't get PMR-30s with any regularity either...or some of their carbines. They make good stuff -- I hope they take a year off and just try to catch up on what they have in the works.
Taurus may be the worst. You hear about things often a year before they are available. And sometimes, they never become available and just fade out of existance...like vaporware.
Ruger, on the other hand -- is pretty good. When they show something at SHOT, they are usually filling supply channels immediately thereafter.
It's all part of your corporate culture, I guess. Sometimes making a big splash with a new product bites you if you can't then deliver. Especially when you show detailed high-res photos of something with all the specs... It creates expectations that the gun is ready to go.
