Hello everyone, longtime forum lurker here, had to sign up and tell you all about my incredible day. I picked up my new R9S last week after reading endlessly about the R9's and contemplating spending a large sum of money on such a small firearm, however after weighing the pro's and con's, I decided if I was going to spend my gun budget on a new firearm, I could not beat the quality craftsmanship and uniqueness of the Rohrbaugh.
So, after 2 weeks of swapping out my XD9 Sub-Compact for the Rohrbaugh R9S, I actually had to draw my weapon for the first time in a real protection situation.
My girlfriend and I went to Wal-Mart this evening to pick up a few items for the house, and upon exiting, we were approached by 2 males carrying knives. One had a respectable Kershaw (I believe) and the other just had some cheaply made large bowie knive. The came up to my truck as we were loading our purchases in the back, knives in hand demanding her purse and my wallet. I'm proud to say that without a second thought, realizing the danger that had been presented to us, I stepped in front of my girlfriend, drew my weapon and told the two suspects that "We are about to have a serious problem" (cheesy I know but how many of you have thought to yourselves that you would say some cheesy Clint Eastwood line if you found yourselves in the same situation).
The two men ran off, the police were called. I presented my Concealed Carry License and told the police exactly what had happened. Another man who witnessed the incident as he was parking his car confirmed my story. The officers obviously took our info, told me that I had done the right thing and that if they are able to catch the two men after reviewing the surveillance video we could be called in to verify the two men.
I'm all jacked up and had to tell you all. It's sad that things like this have to happen, but so happy I was prepared and overjoyed it was with my new Rohrbaugh R9S.
Picture of my second girlfriend is attached!!
