My New Pup Is Home! A Short Story:
« on: January 31, 2011, 06:08:50 PM »
Today I took a short drive down to bail the pup out of the pound.  The pup and I were on our way shortly after a few papers were filled out and a small fee was paid. I am assuming that the small fee was for pup ownership and registration, but I can't be completely sure of this statement, as the man behind the counter didn't really indicate the usage. At any rate, the new pup was mine and we were soon out the door. The pup made the short trip home without a whimper from his pup carrier that I had carefully placed on the back seat of my truck. I must say that the pup really seems to travel well and he seemed to really enjoy the trip. Upon arrival at the pups new home I carefully removed him from the pup carrier and lovingly placed him in his new bed, which was residing on the table. I decided that the pup needed a bath from his long cross country journey and proceeded to get the cleaning supplies. The last thing that I said to the pup, on my way out the door, was Stay! I want you to know, upon my return, that the pup had not moved one inch. This pup minds well! The pup seemed to thoroughly enjoy the cleaning. I carefully wiped behind his little ears, took great pains with cleaning his little nose and proceeded to clean and oil his little butt. When this mundane task was completed, I feed him several gold dots and dressed him in his new leather outfit. I must admit that he looks rather fetching in his new attire and somewhat resembles Snoopy in his aviator helmet. After what seemed like hours of admiration, I decided that it was time for the pup to go back into his pup carrier where he was placed in the kennel. Sometime during the next couple of weeks, I plan on taking the new pup to the range, letting him run free, bark all he wants and test his demeanor. The range trip will ultimately decide whether or not the pup gets to travel with me on a day-to-day basis. However, at this point, it appears that the pup will be my best friend and constant companion.

Well chronicled, Dano. The pup also likes coming out of the cage every day for quality time with master.

I hadn't thought of that. I may have to add that to  my next story. I do have to take him to the range, you know. :)

Mine seems to develop a severe case of separation anxiety if we are apart for any length of time. Or perhaps the anxiety is mine. After nearly seven years of near inseparability, it's hard to tell.  ;)
