R1000

Good evening, well I have not even started on my NP3 R9 or possibly hardchrome project yet but I will by the end of this week. I found a beautiful photo of R1000 on the site. I am sure that piece is not available nor should it be, but does anyone know the artist. I may get a second project running if I find the right person to do the job and an appropriate pistol. This goes against my grain but this might become, not a safe queen, but a piece of art to display in my home. Thanks, I know one of you very bright aficianados knows the answer.

R-1000 is owned by K-5 Arms Exchange, Inc. in Milford, CT.  Contact info:  203.876.9981 or by email at k5arms4882@aol.com

Frank (the owner of K5) paid $4,000.00 for it at an “auction”  held at the Rohrbaugh booth during SHOT Show a few years back. It started around 2-3 grand, and Frank won it at the $4,000 mark. He has it on display at his store.

Its possible he may want to sell it, but that is pure speculation.

Just an FYI -- The engraving on the R1000 gun was done old school . . . by hand, not a computer! It was done by:

Jim is a great guy and takes pride in what he does. Google "Jim Small engraving" and you can see many items he has engraved by hand, and it’s not just guns either!

Thanks DD, that's good info.  I was in K5 back in March, when I visited the Seecamp factory, and did not see it displayed.    I wish I would have know it was there, I would have asked to see it!

Thank you all for your help, I knew someone had the answer. I thought it might have gone down something like that. I am just looking for an artisan who could do that kind of work in a very tasteful and minimalist manner, something similar to the R1000, but I would not want to duplicate it. I just loved the style which was used. I think the gentleman who won it at auction should keep it, and continue to display it as he sees fit. If I were he, it would no doubt become a family heirloom. I would not even think of asking him what he wants for it. To me that one would be priceless. Thanks again everyone. Thank Karl for me too.

I am not considering the R-1000, but I think a lot of posters on this thread are looking at it the wrong way.  Think of it for the investment/collector value if Rohrbaugh continues on its present path.  In five years, could it be envisioned that it sells NIB for $6000?  Maybe $7000?  Considering how many fans Rohrbaugh already has, and the financial postition of an average buyer who can afford a $1000 pocket pistol anyway...

While were talking about R1000 does anybody know what serial number gun was also shown by DDGator in this post from way back when.  Duane your photobucket tag is "EnglishR91", does that mean that it's serial number R91? If so I'm drooling!!!

R1000 is a R9 (no sites)

The 3 pictures above R1000 is of a R9s (with sites) and has a little different scroll work.  I like it better, I think....

This is the one i'm talking about.

After a quick photo edit I see it's not R91 but still cool.  Looks to be R1206 or so.
