New to Rohrbaugh Question
« on: October 14, 2010, 08:48:55 AM »
Hi! I haven't taken the plunge and bought one yet but am looking hard. If I were to go with a used gun are there any serial number ranges that were more problematic then others? Any buying tips? Hopefully I'll be able to post a picture of my new "pup" soon! Thanks guys.

amvet,
   Welcome to the group.
There were some slide issues on some very early pups and I'm not sure if those were only Farmingdale marked units or not.
I believe even if you got one of those the factory would take care of it. Other than that there have been no problems tied to any specific serial number group that I have heard of.

amvet.  Welcome to the Forum.  There were a few cracked slide problems back in the R7XX days and I did see one R9XX and I understand this was due to bad batch of material.  These were taken care of by Rohrbaugh who stands by their product.

Good luck in your search for an R9, used or new.  Again, welcome.

amvet, welcome to the forum! I think you'll like it here. I don't know of any problems specific to any serial # range other than what was mentioned in previous posts. I do know that Rohrbaugh customer service is without peer.    Gene

amvet.  I do endorse Tom Watson of The Irish Guard in one the above post, if you are looking for a new R9.  He can get you what you want and is great to work with.

You've probably seen them, but there are a couple excellent deals in the classifieds right now. No relation to sellers, just commenting.

Welcome to the forum.  You will LOVE the Rohrbaugh!  Guns did NOT leave the factory in serial number order.  Even with the slide crack problem (from bad bar stock used once) there is no way to tie it down to a group of serial numbers.  I have the ones talked about here on the forum written down at home and it's NOT a group of serial numbers.  They were ramdom from R500 up to R1300 if my memory recalls correct.  I would not worry about that anyway.  If by small chance you were to ever have a problem the Rohrbaugh crew will fix it.

Welcome to the Forum!

As for a used R9, don't worry about the serial number. Just get one which has not been abused. The R9 is what I consider to be the finest pocket pistol yet designed.

And if I interpret your "handle" correctly, thank you for your service to our country.

Its sorta funny, I just today called Maria wanting to buy just a left grip because I have one that is buggered up.  In Rohrbaugh style she asked me to send in both grips and she would send me a new set to replace them.  Can't get much better than that!
