Not a thing and I am on your side of the 1911/.45 preference.

Having been in service during the transitional phase from 1911 to Beretta I can attest that I do not like any 9mm for "fighting work" whether mil or LEO related. I am sure you have all heard this before but 9mm sent to either an adrenaline pumped adversary or a drug crazed suspect, is not as effective as a 230 grain sledgehammer. Then there is the "clothing / gear" penetration issues...I would rather have a 45 anyday of the week and twice on sunday. However, the 9 was generated by a NATO compliance more than anything coupled with the fact that those old 45s in service needed replacing in a bad way.

And ACP: totally with you on your remarks, some of those old Remington Rands and the like, I was suprised the slide didn't fly off when fired. In addition, the comment about shot placement seems to be "lacking" in the warrior and training mindsets. A 9mm to the head may be just as effective as 45 to the torso but easier to hit! More rounds in hicap is a false sense of security in my book.

P7,
Thank you for your comments. tracker's defense of the beretta is a reasonable one, however. The point you make as to NATO influence, culminating in the M9, is correct.

I don't buy gun magazines anymore; I find better information on this forum and others. However, there always seems to be magazine articles such as "A .32 is Enough!", or, "The .380 is a Shooter's Friend", or, "The 9mm is Not Enough". (I read them for free when I go to the Wal-Mart).

Any gun, even (gulp) a .25ACP, is better than no gun. I respect the fact that you are a professional and were I one, I would want to carry a .45. As a legal CCW citizen, I am content to carry my Robar R9 until the mythical R45 appears.

Phil.  At least you're now having a semi-positive attitude toward the R45; as I've said before, time flies.

ACP,
For the record, my inventory is definitely biased in favor of the 1911 in several versions.

Thank you kjtrains. Negativity is its own reward. However, I am human and I want what I want when I want it. Please tell me I am not the only gun guy who has felt this way.

tracker: I have high respect for your postings, (not to mention your military service) and we should move on. Your defense of the Beretta was not meant as disrespect for the 1911, as I understand it.

We are on the same side.

WOW!  One great collection.  I like 'em all and the candy, a taste of it's own.    :)

Wow, great collection there hdfb910!   Beyond our family tie now that we have twin Robar's I see other family resemblance in your pics.  I'll post some pics later this week and you'll see what I mean.

The chrome gun looks cool in the pics.  I'm already itching for another pup.

I was not part of the "chocolate dialog" but a great collection of guns!

tracker; nothing wrong with the Hi-Power; the second gun I ever owned. However, the Hi-Power was ahead of its time with the dual stack and I could not shoot well with it; another reason I don't like the Beretta or any other dual stack gun. (Hadn't thought of this in previous exchange).

I am a thin guy and don't have the "beefy" hands to get around a dual stack gun. Which is why, for example, I ditched the Glock model 30 and stick with the Model 36.
