Help-FTE
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:09:05 AM »
I have owned my R9 since 2005.  I have had many problems with reliability.  Every  6 months or so I pull it out to have the same FTE problems.  I sent it back to Rohrbaugh 6 months ago and they replaced the slide(now I have a R9S) and put in the new spring.  Reliability improved but not to the point that I will carry the gun.

Now the FTE only happens on the 2nd magazine.  It is with the 1st or second round every time.

I might be me but I also shoot a Glock 36 which is limp wrist sensitive and never have a problem.  My pocket pistol is a P3AT which has never had a FTE or FTF.

I really want this gun to work for me but my patience is running out.

I know you've heard this before, probably, however, just wondering, if you let the R9 cool down before firing the 2nd mag?

fgunnr:

Also, you mention that, "Every six months or so I pull it out to have the same FTE problems." Do you clean and lubricate the pistol after it has been sitting for six months and before taking it to the range? Being the smallest and lightest pistol chambered for 9mm Parabellum, the tolerances of the R9 are necessarily minimal and it needs to be clean and well lubricated to function properly. If one of these little pocket rockets sits in a safe for six months, it can become what I call "dry," which in turn can affect its function.

Good luck!

fgunnr.  Let us know the answer to these concerns as we're curious.  Thanks.

This is also an item that is overlooked at times, and that is the magazines..
Check and make sure all is fine with them, take apart and make sure they are working properly.r
Most feeding problems with semi autos are a result of the magazine.

I wish you the best in finding the feeding problem with the Pup.

He says it only happens on the 2nd mag.  Just wondering, fgunnr, if you alternate mags?  All kinds of questions here.

After shooting the first mag try reloading it and using it again instead of using the other mag.  It very well could be the 2nd mag is out a tiny bit.  I have had a mag that caused the same type problem.

2005 eh?  What color are the grips?   ;D

What ammo are you using?  Do other brands do the same thing?  Sounds dumb but some pups are VERY ammo sensitive.

We're all just trying to help.  Hope it all works out.  I know it's flustrating as I've had a problem with a Seecamp .380, however, still like that little gun.
