Do like I did.  Buy enough Silvertips so you can't ever possibly run out; even if there is a shortage.   ;D  However, one must decide for themselves what is the right ammo for their R9.   :)

Maybe that explains the shortage. ;D

I don't think so!    ;D

I think we all engaged in some degree of hoarding which didn't help the supply situation but some like the .380 was very puzzling.

My understanding of the 380s is they are only produced once during the year, and not near the numbers of the other calibers, if LE and military used 380 I'm sure supply would be better.
Also a sudden explosion of popular pistols chambered in 380, and Obummer being elected led to record sales and hoarding.

Winchester has been producing short runs of the .380 Silvertips and is supposed to be producing now.  R & R Arms sold out of the .380 ST's in mid June, charged me for my order and haven't sent them yet.  Said they were looking for places where they could get some more.

I think you're right, John; supply was decreasing and demand was increasing almost simultaneously. The ammo manufacturers just didn't have the revenue in the .380 compared to the .9mm so they just didn't produce as much.

Nice of them to use your money while they try and find the product for you. ::)

I agree; Cabela's doesn't do that to you. It bills when it ships.

I thought the same thing.  Sounded like they charged me for them and then found out they didn't have 'em; said they had over sold and should have them in 3 or 4 days.  That's been over two weeks ago.

I have no problems ever with Cabela's and received the .380's I had ordered from them.    :)

I had the same issue with Streicher's when I ordered some Federal 9mm.  I expected to be charged when shipped, not when ordered.  After a 4 month wait, I had them substitute another brand at a similar price.  Lesson learned and I will not be ordering from them again.

I had ordered from R & R before and no problems.  Seemed like the 380's just got away.  Their computer should have known, though.
