Springs and Springs...recoil that is
« on: July 02, 2010, 06:16:22 PM »
Thought there might be some interest in seeing an old R9 recoil spring compared to the new one that I was sent. Old one is on top and much shorter but not, I don't believe due to compression. I have less than 200 rds.

Did the recoil spring change from the earlier models? Mine is a Deerpark. In fact this spring is so strong I have trouble racking the slide due to the Robar NP3 finish on the gun. That finish is slick.

Yes,the older springs were open at one end and have to be orientated correctly when installing.

I normally change the spring about 250 rounds or so-originally it was stated to change at 500..

Either way,I have not had a problem with my carry pup,and I still use the "old style" spring..

Thanks for the pic,we all like to see them!!

I was having no problems with the old style spring, but just though I would get a couple to keep on hand when I was ready to change. Did not know they had changed the length and style of the spring....this one you can't get it on wrong...that's a plus.

I stockpiled so many original springs six years ago that I'm still using one. When I run through the supply and change over to the new springs, I plan to replace the magazine springs as well, since those have also been changed since this all started.

The new magazine springs have made a difference.
