barrel pin issue
« on: April 18, 2010, 12:18:34 PM »
Hi, I have a brand new R9s, havent even shot it yet. While racking the slide, every so often the barrel pin pops out just a little from the left side, jamming the slide open about a half inch. I have to push on the pin again to get the slide to go into battery. I have tried to tap the pin in extra snug just to make sure its seated, but still once in a  while, it pops out just a little. The pin does seem to be rather loose in the cross barrel hole. Any suggestions?

Funny you mention this because I left a message with Maria at Rohrbaugh on Saturday to send me another pin. One of my pins became way too tight and I can't get it into either of of my R9s, I think it is slightly bent. My other pin works fine in both. Just give them a call  :)

harley.  Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on getting the R9.  What CCW said.  Again, welcome.

Harley:

Welcome to the Forum and the expanding league of R9 owners.

I would call Maria at the factory's customer service office and ask her to send you another barrel pin. The one you have may be what we used to call "a skosh off spec." If the new pin shows the same problem, the pistol may need to be sent back to the factory for a detailed inspection.

You are now the owner of one of what I consider to be the finest pocket pistol yet made, and the factory can and will bring it to its perfect state. After that, routine care and maintenance are all it needs to serve you for years to come.

Welcome again.

When I bought my new R9( a couple weeks ago) my friend bought one also.
I took mine apart to clean before I shot it. ( no need to, but there was an excess of oil)I noticed this R9 was harder to assemble then my old one.
Well my friend called today and could not get his barrel pin back into the pistol. I found that there may have been the tiniest of burs on the frame. we ended up with the frame in hand only and pushed the pin in from the right hand side quite a few times.
It was a very tight fit.
Finally reassembled and it seems all okay.

Just spoke with Maria about ordering a new pin. She stated that they are havin some phone problems and that I was the first person to get through. I guess 5 times is a charm :)
