Please correct me if I am wrong but as I read it the machinist made the marks but not the remarks.
Maria was the messenger and showed the machinist my pictures. She then called me back and told me the machinist stated the marks are to be expected (chattering caused by the CNC machine) and to go to the range and fire the gun to prove that it works fine. I called back and said I will not accept that solution and want other options. I mentioned that I have seen other Rohrbaughs and none have had these marks. Maria suggested that it was the luck of the draw and it depended on where in the lot of 16 the slide was made. Again, she stated that slides made later in the lot often have more chattering. They are very aware of the issue and they seem to rationalize the marks by saying it will not cause any function problems. I added that if they had any pride in their product they should fix the slide immediately. I noted that the marks will also be a problem if I ever decide to sell. I also stated that many forum members agree the work is not representative of a Rohrbaugh. I don't know, but maybe these comments led to Karl calling me. Maria never called me back...
I later received a call from Karl apologizing and stating that we do not want any unhappy customers and he will personally fix things. He said that the machinist and him are the only people that do the quality control and this one slipped through. He reiterated that the marks will not cause any function problems. So in the end, it looks like Karl agreed with the machinist's comments, but did not want an unhappy customer. If I did not push the issue, Karl would not have called me and I would be stuck with a marked up slide. In the end, I am happy, but I wish I did not need to assert myself as much as I did to get things fixed. I am going to try and send it back to Rohrbaugh later today.
The obvious fix is to not run lots of 16 slides at one time so the CNC machine does not chatter!
