Recommended Ammo?
« on: February 07, 2010, 06:23:15 PM »
Is there a recommended ammo list on this forum?  I searched for recommended ammo and didn't find a specific list.  Many people say 115 grain gold dots, 115 grain WWB work well.  I checked the Rohrbaugh Website and they don't have an official list.  Any help would be appreciated.

My R9 has taken any ammo I've fed it.  I'd suggest you try out some different brands.

I use Gold Dots and Hornady, which are popular with other pup owners.

I have had issues with WWB, Gold Dots, and Blazer.  I guess I am unlucky. ???

My first day at the range with the Rohrbaugh R9

115 gr Hornady XTP-Two shots, failure to extract.  Switch mags, one shot, failure to extract.  Switch ammo

115 gr white box Winchester- Three shots, failure to extract.  Switch mags.  One shot ,failure to extract.  Switch ammo.

Green box Reminton-  Two shots, failure to extract.  Switch ammo

115gr FMJ Blaser- Two strings with both mags, no problems what so ever.

I went back to the previously tested ammo to see if maybe a break-in period was needed. Same results.  Multiple failures to extract.

Got out my PM9 and shot two magazines with each ammo. Zero failures.

Went home very disappointed.

That is what I am feeling at this point.  I hope we can both resolve our issues.

It appears that the only recommended ammo is Speer Gold Dots, Blazer aluminum, and blazer brass.  I can find blazer aluminum but I used the other two.

Wow, that price is ridiculous.  If that is the only ammo that would work, I will sell the gun.  I sure hope I can get her fixed.  Rohrbaugh recoomends gold dots, so I will keep trying till they work.

I do know that's alot to buy at once, and GunsAmerica has individual boxes of old stock Winchester 115 gr. Silvertips if you're interested.

Yep.  I agree.  I stocked up in April of 09 when the price was down.  I did purchase some at a high price after that but that was OK.

I think you meant to say 10 boxes of 50 for $409.00

I thought maybe it was a Freudian slip that enhanced your perspicacity for stocking up last year.
