newbie with questions
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:34:25 AM »
Not a ton of experience/knowledge with handguns, but I do value quality and obviously our right of self-defense.  Would appreciate your input on a few questions.

1.  Anyone own an R9 without CC permit?  Nearly impossible to get CC in my state of NJ, but I can see the utility of small size/big punch in many settings.
2.  Only 1 dealer in NJ listed on Rohrbaugh web site--anyone  from here know of any other dealers?  I think probably important to see these jewels first hand before purchase.
3.  Forgot my last question

Thanks,
Nate

Nate.  Welcome to the Forum.  As to your questions:  #1.  Don't know anyone without a cc permit.  #2.  As for a dealer, I would recommend Tom Watson, of the IrishGuard, here on the Forum.  He can answer your questions and get you an R9 when you're ready.

Give Tom a pm if you're interested.

I bought my R9 sight unseen.  Had never heard of a Rohrbaugh until I found this Forum.  Great place.

nas9005, welcome to the forum.

I know several people without CC permits that own guns.  I don't advise it.  In my state concealed is considered on your person, but that also includes in a bag you are carrying.  Like a range bag from your car to the range.

I wish moving was an option.  lol.  If you haven't heard, NJ (and the outgoing democratic governor) also just enacted a law that only one firearm can be purchased monthly.  I envy you guys picking up 2 (or more) at a time.

We have plenty of handgun owners in the state and I have never heard of a problem taking your gun out of the car and to the range.  Finding a range, on the other hand, is another issue.

At this point I was thinking of a small, reliable, powerful sidearm for the home.  I can always conceal when I answer the door if nothing else.

Thanks for your replies.

I am in NJ as well. Have also wanted a Rohrbaugh for quite a while.

I thought the dealer listed was a range only - looks like they sell firearms. Wonder if they are a real store with stock or a store by appointment type deal.

Wouldn't have a problem getting one sight unseen - wish Davidsons had them.

The new Robar model looks very nice.

Highland.  Welcome to the Forum.  Give Tom from the IrishGuard a PM.  He can answer your questions and get you that Robar R9.  Again, welcome.

Come to think of it, I have bought a few long guns sight unseen.  Guess I'm not really worried about the fit for this one either--more a question of size and function.  Time to apply for another purchase permit and find someone reasonable  to act as an ffl in my county.

Are you the person bidding on the Robar model on Gunbroker? If so, good luck!

Whoever is doing the bidding is going to pay more for it than someone buying from Rohrbaugh through a FFL, retail price, $1795.
