Ammo question
« on: January 11, 2010, 11:31:51 AM »
My R9 runs well with the 115gr Winchester silvertips.  The problem is I am down to 2 mags worth and want to find a round to use monthly for reliability testing.  I have Winchester 115gr white box.  Is this round close enough to confirm reliability?

I would like to get more silvertips but can't find any.

Here's some on GunsAmerica.  I inquired and this person has 15+ boxes for $29.99 a box, old stock, plus shipping.

Others on the Forum use the WWB with no problems as well.  I have them, but never tried 'em.

Just try different ammo out and see what works, as long as it is not +P.

When it comes to reliablility you will hear people say "find what your gun likes".  "Each and every gun is or can be different".

Well that is partially true.  It is really a function of your gun and how you hold it, how you squeeze or pull the trigger, if you flinch, if you follow through with the trigger, if you reset the trigger........

All of these and the combination of these factors affect the recoil management of the whole recoil system, and thus the  relialbilty of the gun.
And certain ammo will be more forgiving than others, whether it is the bullet shape, size, power factor, or combination.

This is why some pistols like certain ammo( relialbility wise), it's really the shooter and the pistol.

Have fun testing ammo.
