Newest Carbon Fiber Grip Picture
« on: August 19, 2009, 10:04:29 AM »
Here it is folks.

From the builder:
"For those who are interested in the details, I am using a true carbon fiber, 19 oz. weight (heavyweight), 2X2 Twill weave, in an extremely high purity and high clarity epoxy".

If all goes well, the builder should be able to produce between 12-14 sets per week until everyone is served.

Can you post a pic of the back of the right grip.

I E-mailed the builder with your request.
I'll post a photo just as soon as I receive it.

Thanks

Per request, here's a picture of the back of the grips.

Some information from the builder:

"Here is a photo of the back side of the grips. All holes and recesses will be absolutely identical to the originals. I de-gas the epoxy twice in a vacuum chamber, once when mixed and a second time when the carbon fiber is inserted. This creates an incredibly strong grip, as the epoxy embeds itself into every fiber of the carbon cloth. There will be a few small bubbles on the surface of the back side of the grip, as you can see in the photo, but they do not degrade the strength or structure in any way at all".

Is this picture of the glossy finish?
It looks excellent, but since it is a brand new product, will there be a warranty if any issues should arise?

Wow, those REALLY look great!  Please post a picture on the R9 when you get a set in your hands, thanks.  Can he do any checkering in the grips?  Dang Rohrbaugh should be all over this.  Curt thanks for this effort.

It is "Glossy".

The angle of the grips and direction of the lighting will effect the level of reflection of the Carbon Fiber and level of gloss you see in photos.

The "glossy" model grips will have more *gloss* then you see in the picture above.

Yes, there is either an exchange or full 30 day refund warranty.

The weave is more coarse than the original.  I think it looks GREAT!  Congratulations.

Received my CF's yesterday!  ;D  Thanks Curt, I love them.

Put them on and went into my backyard and shot off a clip.  (That's all my neighbors will let me get away with).

Fit tight and stayed tight, will shoot off a box or two next weekend and send a range report.

They look real, real deep but were the same thickness as my aluminum grips.

The aluminum grips "zinged" may hand more than the factory grips and now with the CF's I have less zing and better looks.

Ordered a second set from Curt today to put on my 380 when I buy one.

Curt,

Is the final price for these grips still $75?  Does this include shipping?  How many units have you sold; what is the current delivery time?  Is everyone ordering the glossy?

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

The final price is $77 shipped.
There's been quite a few orders so far. I can check my order list but it's somewhere around 25-30 with more coming in daily.
If you were to order today, you should have them delivered within two weeks max.
About 90% of the orders have been Glossy.

Thanks

Curt

Thanks.  I meant to ask in my last post about the mechanics of ordering:

Do we send you a check or MO?  If so, what is the address?

I know anyone who shoots has a loathing for PayPal but it is very convenient (necessary if you use eBay).  Do you accept PayPal?  As a courtesy, I only send PayPal payments from my bank account...

Thanks, James
