I just bought mine yesterday. I'm fairly ignorant about the gun.  It's s/n is R8xx so I think it is an early gun.  The grips appear to be carbon fiber.  It is an R9 with Deer Park N.H. on the barrel. It is brand new in the box and never fired although the previous owner said he had it for several years. What are recommend loads? Pretty sure I did good at $650.  Would appreciate any advice or comments re grips, etc.  I have owned and carried several Seecamps and currently carry a Ruger LCP when not carrying my PARA .45 LDA.  I'm really excited about retiring my PARA to the nightstand because of the weight but a little apprehensive about loss of knockdown power.  Any ammo to avoid?
Thanks
Ron

$650? To say you got a good deal is an understatement.
Congratulations!

Congratulations and welcome, Ron. You probably do have CF
grips with an 8xx s/n. A pair of those sold for $300 last week.

There is a lot of info on this forum regarding ammo. If available,
Speer Gold Dot, Winchester Silver Tip, 115 gr.; some use 124 gr.
and others carry 147 gr. Personally, I switched to Hornady Critical
Defense 115 gr.; but they are all excellent, just stay with high
quality.

Ron.  Welcome to the forum.  Great deal.  On  ammo, what tracker said.  Enjoy!

The other thing about ammo, Ron, and at the risk of severe
redundancy, no +P ammo. It is written all over the place,
including your magazine. Enjoy.

Other than welcoming you to the Forum, the only thing I might add to the excellent posts above would be to refer you to this link for some reading on your new masterpiece:

Welcome and OUCH! I paid over $1400 for a carbon fiber grip R9S two months ago. My S/N begins with an 8, as in 8 ball.

$650????? Like they say, timing is everything. Consider 147 grain bullets in high test configuration (Golden Sabre and Hornady TAP).

Thanks for the info. all.  I have a table at the monthly gun show and sounds like I finally made a good deal.  It's about time.

The invasion is underway. I'm locking and loading and I am ready for those miscreants whenever they rear their ugly heads.
