The whole thing is smooth leather.  The side facing away from your leg has an additional very thin layer of neoprene topped by suede which helps it "stick" to the inside of your pocket and makes it soft and comfy.  The one in the pictures below is a month old.  I've had another one for three years, for my 340-PD revolver, carried daily (until I got the R9), and it still looks like new.  It's going to last a long time.  The guy does good work.

Way to go. I paid Tom 100% up front for my Stealth and do not regret doing so. I can't speak for the Irish Guard or the factory (as to your order) but I received my Stealth in a very timely manner.
