Grip tape: abrasive vs non?

I'm going to add a little grip tape to the front and back of my pup.  I read some previous postings, I like the look of the one that has the smaller band-aid shaped pieces fitted to it.

Anyway, the choice comes down to a standard abrasive tape, or the vinyl non-abrasive stuff ("for bare feet").  I should be able to find the abrasive stuff anywhere, but the non-abrasive in black could be a challenge (at least in the middle of Oregon).

Has anyone tried one of the non-abrasive tapes?  How was it?  It sounds like it might be good for sweaty hands when TSHTF.

Any opinion on what grit to use for the abrasive ones?  With the pups kick, do the abrasive ones take their toll on your hand after a 50-round box of ammo?

[update] decided to give the black eGrips a try first, that stuff worked great on my old Palm Treo.

Lately I've been using the Pachmayr "Pac-Skin" on my bigger caliber (and size) pistols.  It is a smoother material that doesn't chew up my hands, but with a grippiness like some of the Hogue rubber grips.

Compared to my bigger caliber pistols (10MM and 357Sig) I don't find that the R9 has that much kick and  might consider the typical sandpaper anti-skid tape.  However, I found a Pachmayr grip sleeve that, once trimmed a bit at the bottom, fits perfectly and does the job better than any of the tapes for me.

I used the black e-grips for a while, but they started looking ratty. I now have a Hogue slip on grip and am very happy with it.

The 3M grip tape is very user friendly and can be cut and shaped
on all four edges of the grips. If it feels too rough it can easily be
softened by using a piece of the same tape or other sandpaper to
grind it down; no problem and much less expensive than checkering.
Also, the tape is much less cumbersome than slip-on grips..

I used very abrasive skateboard tape on the front and back of my R9s.  It is terrific and allows me to get a much better grip on this little pistol.  

I never shoot more than a mag or two at a time, so abrasion or blisters on my hand are not an issue.
