I spoke with Cor-Bon Friday.  They like the load, and they are developing it for the R9, they sort of figure it 'might' get used in a few other hand guns as well ;-)  It will be a DPX and probably released at the 2009 SHOT show.  They have a few twecks left to perfect it.

Should be HOT, 80gr all copper, 1,300 fps, at 14 inches of gelatin penetration diameter is .64, out of an R9.  This is preliminary test, they are trying to do better!

I inquired and got a QUICK **SUNDAY** response:

"We don't currently have anything available in a standard pressure load for a 9mm, so I really can't recommend anything for now.

The 80 gr standard pressure 9mm load should be available the first or second week of November if all goes as planned.

Check our website at www.CORBON.com.  Click on the products tab and then scroll down to the DPX tab.  Go down until you see the new 9mm load.

Thanks,

- Great customer service!

PS  I just got my R9S the other day.  WOW!!

Still nothing at DakotaAmmo dot net.  Anyone run a magazine or two of MagTech's First Defense ammo through an R9 yet?  Similar to DPX, it's not +P and the bullet's not such a flyweight as the proposed Cor-Bon.  I'm wondering about feeding problems due to the longer OAL of all-copper bullets with such a deep cavity...

FWIW,

I've had Corbon loads tend to push into the case whilst in the magazine.  Usually by the 4th or 5th round they've moved a good 1-2mm.

I'm personally not impressed with their quality control.  Yes, they make hot stuff; but when that bullet gets setback into the case, pressures rise too much for my tastes.

I'd be interested in knowing the results when somebody starts shooting this stuff.   Not that I'll change, but I'm interested nonetheless.

SHOT show is yet to come.  They are developing a load specifically for the R9, hold your water, it will be worth it.

If that be true, I strongly suggest that you call Peter Pi direct.  He is very interested in Quality. They are trying to be at the top of the heap.

IMO, not worth contacting.  I can shoot Hornady or ATK products and achieve the same goal.  Specifically, the 32 ACP setbacks like crazy, and I've read reports that 357 does the same thing.  It's a known problem with 32ACP.  Just check the Seecamp forum out as well, I'd imagine, Kel-Tec forum.  I'd like to blame it on one batch; but I tried several different lots (bought 1 box at at time months apart) and each and every time, same problem - over a 2 year time period.

Not sure, but I think I even noticed it on an old 40 S&W I used to own about 3 years ago.
