Box Empty, R9s Stolen In Transit

I purchased an R9s which was due for delivery today to my FFL.  

Well, the box and the lock and the paperwork arrived, but the gun and mags did not!

They were stolen in transit.  Imagine that.  

I expect that some Chicago pimp is now sporting "my" R9s tonight as he goes about his pimp business.

Everything's good here as I have another coming on Monday and I'm out nothing but a couple of days.

Reminds me of the only time I carried on a flight.  Had my Pelican 1550 and lock and all.  Went through Detroit and when I got back from Dallas to Tampa, locks were gone.  Fortunately, the gun was still there.  

Hopefully, they'll trace it and who all handled it.  Especially if it's Fed Ex or UPS.  They could figure it out.  I believe that the idiot who stole it (let's hope they're caught) will be charged with a felony.

It was UPS and I also hope they nab the person who misappropriated my new little gun.  

We will see.  At this point the ATF and UPS and God only knows who else are on the case.

This is why I get ticked about the USPS regs -- registered mail is the safest way to send a valuable.  Was it sent overnight?  About the only real chance of security through Fed Ex or UPS is that if it's sent fast enough, hopefully some scumbag won't have time to go through the packages, looking for valuables.

Not that it applies here but I only send guns out on Monday
or Tuesday to avoid the weekend, hangup storage deal. You
have my empathy.

Yes it was sent overnight and by a guy who ships dozens (or more) guns each day.  

It went through Chicago in the middle of the night.  I'll probably never know where it went, but my guess is that it got nabbed in Chicago.  

It did say Rohrbaugh on the box in big black letters.  Any gun fan would have known what was in the box.  

Good news is that I have another arriving tomorrow  ;D.  Hopefully this one will make its journey safely...

Wow, every time I've shipped or been shipped, it's in a plain box, with no identifying marks.

I, too, try to avoid having a gun in transit during a weekend. (I'm a firm believer in "O'Brian's Law," which provides that "Murphy's Law is flawed by irrational exuberance.")

Good advice, thanks.  The first gun was shipped on Thursday and "arrived" on Friday.  

The second one was shipped on Friday last and is due today, so it was in transit over the weekend.    

I can't possibly lose two in a row--can I?

Seecamp ships guns UPS and they are routed thru Chicago quite alot, some are stolen.  Tom

Hey Tom, wait a second.  I thought all those gun laws protected people against having their guns stolen.  And...I thought stealing was illegal too?  Am I missing something?  Hmmmm, ultimately, me thinks not.  

Just more proof that guns used in crime have a high probability of being stolen and more gun laws are NOT the problem.

Well, the new one arrived.  I'm glad the other one was lost, 'cause this one's perfect.  

Only had a chance to put 20 or so rounds through it in the back yard.  Didn't do so hot, but didn't miss by a mile either.  

A little practice and I'll be good to go.
