Since there was an overwhelming display of support for Jessica, with no subsequent response, I'm also beginning to wonder if someone played a bad joke on the board.

It is interesting that the photos are now deleted. How was
that done?

I think it should be possible  to see if her husband was killed in Iraq. That might shed some light on the  postings. Dan

tracker,

When you modify the post, the picture link can be deleted.

Dan, one post was modified to say "Jessica of TX', rather than the complete name and city, as originally stated.

Administrators probably take nightly backups in order to preserve vital data,  so it would be a minor task to restore an old entry for review.

Then, confirming the validity of a post would be no big thing.  A Google search argument might even suffice.  You could enter: Jessica lastname somecity, TX.

Perhaps it's not worth the trouble.  Either there is a very rude poster who sent a PM, or else the whole episode is phony.

I too am still wishing for ''closure'' of some sort but looks like we will not get any further explanations.

Great pity - we can but surmise it seems.

There is an easy solution to the problem, the forum administrator simply needs to check the offensive IM's sent to Jessica and who they were from, then block their IP address. He should also be able to pull up her email address from when she registered and then contact her directly and explain the actions taken.

Unless someone's curiosity is about to kill them it seems that
we should drop the subject and learn from this episode; if
someone leaves about as suddenly as they appear, maybe
something is not quite right. This has all the earmarks of a
hoax and someone is probably laughing at us.

PersuitSS,

Being able to read PM's is one thing that the board administrator may not be able to do.  After all they are personal or private messages.  The ability to read PM's might not be built into the software.

Mike is probably right - no boards I know of give access to admin for PM's - they remain private, same as passwords.

Tracker is probably right - suck up the conjecture and move on ;)

Yes guys - time to move on.  Maybe in the future some other R9 loving women will become part of the forum.  It is nice to have the view point of the fair sex.

A few asked if Jessica really existed.  The first day Jessica posted my curiosity got the best of me and I did a search on her name and home town to read about her husband.  There were news article releases of when she was in college in the past being on the dean list assuming she was going by her maiden name.  There also was someone who was killed by a sniper in Iraq - different last name but once again she could be going by her maiden name.

So I guess we may never know.   So if Jessica is Jessica the best to her and the future.

riffraff:

The bulletin board application may not provide administrators with the capability to read others' IMs from inside the application, but the owner has full access to the database.  It would be trivial to open 'er up and have a peek inside.  I would never advocate such an action, of course, but it'd be easy to do.

Hi, by the way... I'm new.  My name's Derek.

Hi Derek and welcome.

Do you have a R9 interest or just guns in general - either way is fine.

Join in often.

I can't wait to get a Rohrbaugh, but I don't think it's up to me.  :)

I'm trying to sell off a GLOCK 19 so I can put a deposit on the R9s Stealth.  Even so, the dealer informs me his next shipment won't be in for another 5-6 months.  At least it gives me time to save.
