Frame color
« on: July 31, 2006, 12:04:33 AM »
I am new to the R-9's, and am thinking of getting one, but have a few questions.

1) While looking through the pics thread, I noticed that it looks like there is at least 3 different frame colors. Is this just the lighting in some of the pics?
Some of them appear to have a purpleish tint to them. I think I like the silver ones better.

2) I see there have been different color grips also.  Are they currently being made with the black ones vs. the blue ones?

3) Does the factory offer custom serial numbers? I was going to buy a NAA Guardian and have it custom serial numbered.

Thanks for any info!!

The current frame color is grey, the silver frame is no longer offered. The grips are black. I hope this helps.

Current frame color grey.  Is this a finish or is the frame now left in the raw?  I have the black frame and I like it.  I don't like the new grips either(G10?).  If I bought another R9S I would definately have to spend the coin and get the black carbon fiber grips.

If anyone can post on the exact configuration the R9 is currently being shipped in please do.

OK, I will try it again. The frame is a dark grey, that is the only color available at this time. The grips are G10 and black in color. The last I heard the carbon fiber grips are not available at present, even for extra money.

Tom,

Thank you for the info.

Dark grey is the only color available at this time, I got that.   now, is this the frame left in the raw or is this a specific kind of finish?

The G10 grips are the current shiped and the carbon fiber grips are no longer available(dang it).

My only unanswered question is the frame color.  If it is grey it can't be parkerizing.  Is it electroplated?  Curious minds want to know.

It is anodizing (most likely type III)

Thanks Tom,

That grey is really dark, looks good.  I think I could live with the G10 grips too!

I will only buy one if I could get the carbon fiber grips.  They just make the whole gun IMO.

hemiwin, take a look at the used one I have in stock, it has carbon fiber grips. The carbon fiber grips are not available at this time on the new guns.

Tom

See you posted a picture - about time - when did this all start?

Hi Dave, It started when Marvin helped me understand how to do this. Did you see the 3- .45acp pistols for sale?
