Okay, Now I KNOW im out of the loop and old school. Last I saw Glasers were +Ps too. Richard, save me a trip to the store, is Glaser now offering thier rounds in standard pressure for 9mmX19?

Lord have mercy!  Thanks for the reminder.  It looks as if I'm the one who has fallen "out of the loop."  

I purchased several cards of Glaser Blues and Silvers in various calibers some time ago, removed them from their plastic-covered cards and stored them in ammo wallets according to caliber.  I absolutely forgot that, while the 9mm Makarov Glasers are standard pressure, those in 9mm Parabellum/Luger are +P.  Here's a link to the listing:

I need to take that +P Glaser out of my R9 and follow Cal's lead by replacing it with a MagSafe.  

(I seem to be coming down with a case of "Sometimers Disease."   )

I should modify this "confessional" post by stating --strictly for the record and with the admonition, "Don't try this at home" -- that my "Pup" didn't complain about the test Glasers.  (And there went the warranty. )

Richard, Im a BIG fan of Glasers from a way back. Like You, "Id never try this and void the warranty" but im curious, You only load one in the chamber, stoking the rest with other ammo. Has it been your expieriance the Glaser doesnt feed well in your R-9 if you were hypotheticaly to "test drive" said ammo? And if so, did you notice any differance in feed between Glaser blue vs. silver?

Ever since I started carrying a weapon in civilian life, I have assumed that I would probably not have to shoot more than once or twice in a self-defense situation -- if, God forbid, I have to shoot at all.  With that in mind, I have settled on a prefragmented round as the leader with jacketed hollow points following along -- the thought being that, if the prefrag alone isn't enough, a followup JHP ought to complete the job.  

I became a believer in "prefrags," regardless of caliber, after some experimentation at the range.

Regarding feeding, with that plastic tip, the Glasers feed as smoothly as "a hot knife through warm butter" -- both Blue and Silver.

Just curious, have you given consideration to the
scenario that your first shot, and others to follow,
might be through a windshield?
That happened here in Houston in a notable road rage
case between two white executives in which the
aggressor was shot and killed through the driver's side
window which he had broken with his fist. There was a
no bill in this case because the shooter's life was threatened.
The prefrag round might not be the most effective in this
case.

Yes, the "windshield" factor has occurred to me.  That's one reason I carry only one prefrag, and that one in the chamber.  In a situation requiring penetration of a windshield, I would hope I had the time and ability to execute at least a "double tap" and that a JHP or two would be sufficient.

You've touched on the heart of the problem, though.  Any defensive handgun is a compromise in one way or another.  One old Army instructor of mine used to say that, "A handgun is essentially a weapon to buy the time required to fight your way to a proper weapon."  (Of course, he wasn't referring to civilians carrying concealed weapons.)
