New Guy - Banter
« on: March 23, 2006, 03:01:05 PM »
Hello,
I am new to the forum and new to Rohrbaugh! About 1:30 hours new to the R9S actually. I order one thru Tom at Irish Guard Firearms, a gentleman to deal with, the transaction went very smooth. Its funny that I live about 15 minutes from the Rohrbaugh factory but had to get the gun from a dealer in Texas.
I also picked up an array of ammo for it. I just test fired one magazine of GDHP 124 gr. and Silvertip 147 gr., both without fail. I called the factory to ask where I could get Super lube and also asked if the 147 gr. Silvertips were a good choice, the woman who answered said to try them, but that Mr. Rohrbaugh himself carries 115 gr. Silvertips. Unfortunately my delaer only had the 147 gr..
I think I finally found the weapon I have been looking for, I am a retired NYPD Homicide Detective, I now own my own business, a retail/wholesale Beer & Soda Distributor and have been looking for something with adequate firepower that I could conceal without having to wear an untucked shirt or jacket. Since retiring I have carried a Mini-Glock in .40 and a Kimber .45 Ultra CDP, with a NAA .32NAA in my back pocket. I won't be fully retiring the Kimber, but it seems that I will opt for the R9S in my front pocket at all times and the NAA in my back when not carrying the Kimber.
Well all thats left is a full range test with various ammo. By the way all of the post here have helped me make my choice to go with the R9S, thanks!

Welcome Joey :) - and glad you have your new pup.

Hope the first outing goes well and you can get the gun broke in easily.

Joe:

Welcome aboard, and thank you for your prior service in law enforcement.

You're absolutely right about Tom -- he's one class act!

Joey

You can't go wrong with Tom - I have dealt with him several times.

NYPD to Beer - you have traveled a long road - it is great that you have a new career in an area so different from the first.  I should do the same.

Looking forward to your postings - welcome again.

Dave
