The "new" PPK looks hot, but up next to the R9, why bother?
The R9 walks all over the PPK, but that PPK still looks hot.
I agree completely. The R9 has eclipsed the PPK. But there is still someting about a PPK -- a mystique, perhaps -- which I always find appealing. I carried one as a BUG when I was stationed in Germany 42 years ago. Whenever I view or hold a PPK, I think of München, Nürnberg, and Berlin . . . I think of crossing through Checkpoint Charley in Class A uniform to fly the flag in the face of the
Stasi . . . I think of dimly lit cobblestone streets, of border fences looming up in the fog, of searchlights sweeping over "no-man's land," and of the sound of Russian voices on the headquarters scanner after midnight.
Life was simpler back then. We could identify our enemies, and we knew where they were.
Still and all, I now carry the R9, not the PPK.
