Flawless out of the box.
« on: September 17, 2005, 01:47:39 AM »
Some casual readers of this forum might think the R9 is fraught with problems.

FOR THE RECORD:  My R9s functioned flawlessly right out of the box.  It showed a healthy appetite for Winchester white box 115 Gr., and also Speer Gold Dot 115 Gr.  After a clean and lube it continues to function flawlessly.

Take-down was easily accomplished with a stop stick and a toothpick.

The R9 is, without a doubt, a master work.  IMHO

I had a similar experience, but can add 147 gr hydrshock to the list as well functioning -- and great grouping -- but I didn't check it for key holing.

I'll add mine too - category ''minimal'' - meaning early days just a few hiccups as I found my ideal ammo.  Most know I tested quite a few ammo varieties and I was not surprised at some effects on function in some cases.

I also have quite freely ''owned up'' to experiencing some tumbling - the explanation is on a page in my FAQ site.  Knowing why means I have no problem with that and can feel totally confident.

The R9 is to me very much a ''niche'' gun - and fits a very special purpose.

My R9S works just fine.  Couldn't be more satisfied with the reliability.

Very few FTF's in the begining with my two R9'ses, they both run fine. :D

In my limited experiance with my own R9, out of seventy rounds I had one Failure to Feed.
I'd say that's darn near perfect. Ohh, the gun is accurate too.

Good thread!

My R9s has been 100% reliable.  I have put about 50 rounds of 115 and 124 Gold Dots, 100 rounds of 115 WWB and UMC FMJ, and some, 25?, 124 Fed Hydra-shok through this gun with no FTF or FTE.

It fits great in the pocket and solves my office carry needs like nothing else.  I couldn't be happier.

Its been a while since I last posted here, but wanted to relay another good experience with R9. I've owned mine for a year or so, and in that time have fired a little over 700 rounds. I have had EXACTLY one failure to feed out of those 700 + rounds, and it was probably due to my limp wristing it.  I have also noticed gun is now MUCh easier to field strip than first few times I tried. Once you get the hang of it, its really a piece of cake. Like R9s Carry, I rarely fire my R9 anymore at the range, but carry it every day...all day. Anyway, just wanting to pass along another anecdotal positive experience.

Hi Jimacp,

Have you settled on a particular round that always works well for you?

ITguy, I have used 124 gr gold dot for carry. GD accounts for about 300 of rounds fired. rest was assortment of pmc, ww white box, etc.  Only round that ever jammed, and then only ONCE was the GD.

What kind of jam was it?
