Pronounce Rohrbaugh?
« on: May 24, 2005, 06:04:29 PM »
I'm a new member expecting the R9S in June.

My Hedley holster order was sent out today.

Please say how you pronounce Rohrbaugh.  The search did not turn  up anything.

Is it "roar"and "baw", like a lion roars, and a sheep goes baw?

Sorry about coming up with the typical new person stuff.

The 1938 Nazi Weapons Law is alive and well in the United States, and is called, "The Gun Control act of 1968", and is enforced by the modern day gestapo, known as the BATF.

It's the holster on top using the link below.  Color is Black.
 Model RB - F/S ~ Rohrbaugh R9 Front Pocket - 4”W

RJ just sent me one for a Kel-Tec P3AT.  It is terrific.
I told him today, it would be a sin if the new R9S could not go in a Hedley holster.  I really like them.

My other holsters are all Milt Sparks, VM-2 and EX, but the little pistols need a Hedley holster.

Those sure are nice holsters.  But I'm somewhat perplexed - how did you get to order one holster, let alone two, when his website says he's not taking new orders?

Very good  point.

Well, I was so impressed with the pictures on the various forums, and noticed that Mr. Hedley often posted, I just sent him an email and asked if I could get on some kind of waiting list, for when he resumed taking orders.

In other words, I sort of begged.

He emailed permission and an order form, which I printed and submitted.

Consider sending him an email.  If he knows you really need one, I bet he will be glad to help.

It's worth every moment  of the wait.

Have you ordered your R9 yet?

I had heard/read on other forums where he was taking orders via email.  I heard also that he had even solicited a couple of people, i.e., contacted them and offered to make a holster for them.  But then after reading/hearing some of those remarks, he would post that he wasn't taking orders.  That's where the confusion was coming from.  Thanks for clearing it up.

I've been reading here for a while and am on the verge of ordering the R9S.  I look forward to learning even more from folks here.

I expected waiting times were about a year, and happened to call a dealer today to see what the time was.

He had ordered a bunch in Oct 04, and is expecting them next month (June 05).

I think they were all spoken for, except maybe two.  I sent him a check today.

Now I need to think about selling some stuff.  There's probably a limit about how much personal protection is needed.

Kel-Tec P3AT  380
Kahr PM9  9mm
Glock 36  .45
Bersa .380
Sig P239  9mm
Browning Buckmark .22

Hope you decide to  get one, too.

RJ can speak for himself, but as one of the most ardent admirers of his work, I suggest patience.

There are at least four extraordinary gunleather artists who post on this forum.  RJ may well be the "Dean of the faculty."  He literally created the so-called "Back Pocket" holster with its full counter-print panel.  I know whereof I speak.  I was relying on an early Chic Gaylord design for pocket carry of my Colt Mustang .380 (waiting in line for a Seecamp) when I happened to learn about RJ's new back pocket holster.  I was younger then.  Since then, we have seen the arrival of the NAA Guardians, the Kel-Tecs, and (finally) the Rohrbaughs.

Bottom line -- if you can arrange to own a Hedley holster for whatever pocket pistol you choose to carry, you will have a work of art.

That's exactly how I felt.  It's a work of art.

I just simply like the way it looks.  You know you really have something special.

It would have been very disappointing to have the R9S, without a Hedley holster.

You post is confusing.  What was happening was a few guys E mailed me to inquire of a re -start date of the web site and expressed a desire for a holster.   I invited each of them to order with a temporary order form I sent them..  The site being closed aided me greatly in working down my back log..   I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.   ;D

If  you would care to order, drop me a line,  my address is in my profile..

Sorry, didn't mean to be confusing.

Edited to remove comments - do not want to ruffle feathers...  Wish you continued success, Mr. Hedley.

I'll keep quiet now and just read and learn.   :-X

You shouldn't worry about ruffling feathers around here - this group is pretty straightforward and most will call it as they see it.  The moderator allows a great deal of latitude in that respect.

I had seen similar postings that you mention above and wondered the same as you.  All I can say is each holstermaker runs their business in the manner they believe puts them in the best position financially, as well as marketing, and even a little bit of legacy.  There's a lot of choices for holster makers, so take a little bit of time and do some research.

Stick around, too, and don't be shy about participating.

Thanks RJ,

Lots of makers I've never heard of or seen before.  I'm liking the kydex pocket holsters, really cheap too:
