Any ladies that have shot or carry R9?
« on: December 27, 2004, 03:06:15 PM »
Just wondering if you know of any of the fairer sex who have shot or carry the R9?  What was their impression?  Jim :)

I too would be keen to know Jim, tho it seems thus far this pup has been almost exclusively a guy gun!!

Probably - providing grip technique is adequate, I'd reckon the ''gal's'' could manage it pretty well.

In the testing of the few R9s that I have had, I have made it a point ot let women shoot them. All of them liked the light weight, all of them thought it was attractive (important to females) and ALL of them fired one mag and said never again!
They could logically see the need for such a gun and the price really didn't scare them all that much but women generally don't have the grip strength that men do (unless they are on Sienfield!) and they didn't enjoy firing it.
Some of my test subjects were newbies and some were expierienced competiton shooters and one even runs a gun shop.

The Rohrbaugh does seem to be a guy's gun because the 9mm. recoil in this small package is relatively brisk. Not unmanageable, but not a fun gun to shoot for the delicate flowers in our midst.  ;D   But, I bet the Rohrbaugh in .380 would appeal to some gals, if its recoil is about what I think it would be.

Hello,

This is my 1st post on this forum.

My wife and I have our TX CHL's, and she currently carries a Sig P239, but wants the R9S so she can carry discreetly all the time.  It's much smaller than the Sig and she has no aversion to recoil whatsoever.  She shoots my Kimber TLE II almost better than I do...but not quite.  ;)

She was unfazed by my Glock 27's recoil, too, and with some practice she should be just fine with the R9S we're going to order for her.

She gets hers 1st, then it's my turn when the funds become available.

I really appreciate reading all the great posts here, and look forward to conversing with you folks!

HH! Welcome ...  :)  Glad to hear you have a wife who can handle recoil - in which case I am sure the R9 will be well appreciated.

I noticed your avatar image is ''squished'' ... well, I am a fussy ol' cove and thought I'd do a ''tweak'' in case you'd like the proportions to look better (meddlesome some call me too!).  The forum sofware converts to 64 x 64 regardless of starting proportions.

If you want this one I tweaked then grab it and use it ... tho I am not sure if you can host it - noticing that your pic is from a car image site.  I can leave it on my server for now tho.

Thanks for the great welcome, Chris!

That picture looks great...I just signed up for Photobucket so that I can post pics of our firearms as time goes by, and I'd love to swith to the re-done photo you did!  I think I'll save it to my PB account, and spend half the evening updating the photo on all my forums!

Thank you for being 'meddlesome!'  It looks great!

Thanks so much, Jim!  I''ve enjoyed reading these posts here...I'm a member of a number of communities like this, but this one is the friendliest I've found.

She's wanted one ever since the AH article came out...she just fell in love with it!

She's got her heart set on the R9S/All Silver color...it'll be perfect for her even in the heat down here!  She sometimes balks at bringing her Sig, which starts my "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" speech.   :)
She'll like this one so much I bet I never give that speech again!

HH - ''all silver'' ... I think you may have a prob' there.  My first one (per my avatar) is a silver frame but my #2 is the darker frame color.  The Rohrbaugh guys had so many rejects from the natural finish frames, they really had to go with the darker ones.  Could just be a few all silvers left - I don't know but - not wishing to burst bubbles ... might be you'll have to ''make do'' with the two tone.

Still hope you and Mrs HH will get them tho! :)  They shoot just as well.

Wow, Chris....I wasn't aware of that!  Of course, it won't stop Mrs. HH from getting one once I explain that to her....besides, I'll be she like the 2-tone color better!   ;)

Thanks for the heads up, Chris!

HH -

Welcome!  They have gone to black frames and black grips.  It really looks pretty good.  I think there is a post here somewhere indicating that this is the look the brothers originally intended.  You can check out the black on black in the post "On time delivery".

Of course, while you're there check out the picture later in the post of Chris' custom colors.  If she can't have a silver frame maybe she would like one of them.  (Well, I would guess if Chris had the time he could make her a picture any color scheme she wanted. )  Of course, you might have to buy her a color coordinated outfilt to wear with it.

Tell Mrs HH to get her order in.  She won't be disappointed with it - the gun or the color.  (well, maybe if she gets one in Chris' special color she won't like it as much).

Keep checking back in as this is a great bunch of people who share a LOT of information.

Randy

HH, welcome to the forum, and I'm glad both you and your lady are going to get these splendid little pistols. Please keep us posted about your experiences with them, I think you're both in for a treat.
