Another good point.  I like the size of the LWS 32 and have the Akers front pocket holster.  The LWS .380 would be right at home in this.

Many thanks!

Nra-Life-Member, Welcome to the forum.  I get to do alot of test firing.  Every gun that leaves the factory get 5 shots.  We shoot into a big steel box full of chunks of rubber.  The front of the box has a thick rubber sheet that holds everything in.  I always put a piece of cardboard on so I can see my groups.  Distance is maybe 5 ft. For me 5 shots with an R-9 can be covered with a half dollar, 5 shots with the 380 can be covered with a quarter.  That being said I love my R-9 and that is what I carry.  My wife will soon be the proud owner of a k380.  So much softer to shoot. I'm a newbe here but if anticipation of recoil is the #1 reason for missing your target, the R380 should win hands down.

Thanks for the welcome. I received my .380 only 5 days ago. Have not shot it yet but am looking forward to it. I think the .380 is 6oz. lighter then the 9mm but are they the same width and height as the 9mm? Are the grips interchangeable? Thanks for any help! I will be searching for some wood grips if anyone can help on that also.

Six ounces lighter than a 12.8 ounce R9? That is huge.

choppers:

And a welcome from me as well! Please give us a range report on your new masterpiece.

By the way, I had thought that the only appreciable weight differential between the 9mm Parabellum and the .380 ACP (9mm Kurz) models would be in the loaded pistols due to the minimal difference in comparative weight of the two calibers of ammunition. As Tracker notes, a six ounce differential would be huge.

Choppers.  Congratulions on getting the .380.  I agree, also, with Trackers comment on the 6 ozs. being huge.  Think of putting a 6 oz. beverage in your pocket and walking around with it; then removing it; big difference.

OK, do I feel stupid. The R9 is 12.8 oz. and the .380 is 12 oz. That's .8 of one ounce difference, I must have had a brain fart.  Sorry!

Don't give it another thought. This is not a gun forum where members attempt to pose as "world's leading experts." The purpose here is to learn about the pistols which broght us together in the first place and to enjoy the process at the same time.

Thanks Tracker. I'm sure we could debate the 9mm and .380 till the cows come home. I think its what your comfort level is and the sitituation you put your self in most of time. For a pocket carry for my casual day the .380 works for me. I realize it is a up close and personnel weapon. For an attacker who is in my face, a double tap with a .380 and the right ammo (Hornady Critical Defense) I gott feel that is going to change an attackers though process. A .380 is a neck sticker. If an assaliant is much further away I'm probably headed for the hills in the oppsite direction. Now that is not to say that I don't carry a Para Slim Hawg 45 when I depart to a different routeen. I am reminded of an artical I read about the NY and LAPD reports that officers involved in shootings in less then 6' away, officers missed there target over 60% of the time. That shows what  pressure can do to someone. That's scarry!

Choppers.  You'll do fine with the .380.  I still carry my Seecamp .32 alot and feel comfortable with it.  I do like the R9, no question.

Many of you have seen the Hornady website above; I think 1000 fps
from the .380 muzzle with excellent expansion is quite acceptable.
