Has anyone used Gun Butter on their Rohrbaugh?
You actually got me thinking with this post; I did some research and got interested enough to try some. Today I did a thorough cleaning and re-lubed my pup with Gun Butter.
It's interesting stuff ...
First of all, while it's an oil it sort of stays put when you put a drop on a flat surface - it doesn't bleed out or spread so it "acts" like a fluid with high surface tension - like a grease - in this regard. I lubed my pup several hours ago and there is not a single sign of oil migrating out from any internal surface.
But put a drop on a bearing (like the trigger pivot on a pup) and it immediately wicks into the cracks and disappears (think of how some formulas of Crazy Glue wick into joints) - in this regard it's behaving like a fluid with very low surface tension.
Once assembled I tested the trigger and racked the slide (too cold to go shooting right now) and - it
feels different - sort of hard to describe. Before when you racked it you could hear the clink of precise surfaces making contact - now it seems to rack a slight bit easier but the sound is more muted, a bit less "metallic". The trigger feels about the same which is to say just as smooth as always.
I'm intrigued by what I see and plan to try it on one of my other pistols shortly.
