1st Time Disassembly / Reassembly, No Problem.
« on: July 08, 2007, 07:28:02 PM »
Disassembly took 1 minute.
1. Bedair Barrel-pin removal tool to compress recoil spring andline up pin with hole in slide.
2. Golf Tee as slide stop tool. (Don't have Hedley Tool)
3. Brownell's 1/16" Brass Punch and the pin came right out.
4. Used my hand to remove the recoil spring assembly.

Lubrication- per manual, forum post, and suggestions from forum members, Thanks again.

 Reassembly took 3 minutes.
1. Installed barrel
2. Assembled guide spring assembly (3 pieces) then compressed       the spring by hand and inserted Bedair guide spring compression tool.
3. Inserted the guide rod into front of slide, with my thumb   compressed rear of guide rod spring and dropped it down into position.
4. Install slide onto frame used Bedair pin tool to line up pin hole,
insert pin, push in and tap home with 1/16" punch , tighten grip screws and... BOOM...DONE...EASY

RichardS has a post in this section "Tools for Cleaning and Maintenance of the R-9" list all tools needed, complete with photos. Thank You Sir.

The FAQ site has video of the process as well.

Would like to buy a Hedley tool. If any are available please let me know.

Thanks to all who contributed on this topic.

Thank you gentlemen for the kind words.

Although morte posts (1:1000) he has disassembly/reassembly down to 1 minute!  Is that a record?  I'll have to practice all weekend!

I won't even try to break that record!   :o  I'll have to content myself with the words of that old song by the Pointer Sisters . . . the one in praise of the man with "a slow hand" and "an easy touch."   ;)
