cleaning barrel only without take-down
« on: October 20, 2005, 03:22:38 PM »
I used a piece of shim wood 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch
thick to hold the slide open and dropped a Hoppe's
soaked "Bore Snake" through once to clean the barrel
only. This would be between those short range visits
where a full cleaning is not required.

Yep - bore snake will work.

Also tho I have found a way (briefly) of holding gun in one hand slide open - while I put a patch on a jag down thru barrel - and also wipe feed ramp - same thing - just odd occasions when a full field strip not really needed.

Thanks for that tip.  Bore snake cleaning every trip to the range will work.  I use it for the 1911's and cleanen them every 200 or so.  This will be neat.  I use slide guide on the 9s and it works great.
