Pocket holster/mag
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:26:19 PM »
Has anyone seen a good quality leather holster for the R9, like a Meco, that also holds a spare magazine?
I know tactically it would be better to put the magazines in the off hand pocket. However, I do need a place for keys, money, and a place to hang a pocket knife.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

Robert at Meco can usually make anything you want.  Give him a call, tell him exactly how you want your holster.

KjTrains,
Excellent! Thanks for the advice. I have a Meco and think it is great. I will give Robert a call and see if he can do something special.

Robar - FWIW, I have a few pocket holsters set up that way and never use them.  You would be surprised how much weight an extra loaded mag adds.
Sounds like a great idea in theory, but it really lacks.
For me, it's just not worth it.

I was wondering about the weight. I might be better off just getting an off hand double mag holder. The only one that I have seen is Del Fatti and the cows will come home before I could get one of their products!

I have a Graham double pocket that works great.  It stands alone and does not tumble.

Robert can make that too!

In fact, I will be glad to e-mail you or Robert some pics of this mag holder to give you and he some ideas if you want.  Just PM me and let me know.

I'm thinking that would be a piece of cake for Robert to make.

Great offer, Reinz.  This could save Robar233 and Robert some time.

Putting the R9 and a mag in the same holster takes some finesse at configuration.  With the suggestion of one of our customers, we came up with a design approximately 7/8 years ago.

I would invite you to our website here: http://www.kdholsters.com/custom-orders.php.  The holster shown at the top of the page can be configured to hold the mag (versus the pepper spray).  In addition, that holster follows our 2n1 holster design.  That means that panel snaps on and off.  So if you want to just carry the gun (no mag), you leave the panel off.  If you want to carry the mag with you, you snap the panel on.

If I am not mistaken, that Pocket Defender Plus in Black Snakeskin shown on Kevin's site is mine. It's a real beauty.

That's a great idea Kevin, just pop off the mag panel if you want to go light.

Those are some good look'n rigs on that page too!
