I think the groove in that post is a good idea!    :)

Mike,
The pin that the trigger pivots on is held on each end by the grips, possibly the locating pin holes are too large (or larger than on the factory grips)

I think you are correct about the trigger pin, without taking it apart again, I think the pin hole may be a tad too deep. I'll contact VZ tomorrow.

Thanks, Mike

The black cherry grips I got are smooth; uncheckered. I chose them because checkered grips, in my experience, are abrasive in a gun as small as the R9.

I fired my R9 for the first time (with my VZ grips) and I did notice a difference from the factory carbon fiber grips.

I can't quantify the difference as I carry much and shoot little. Perhaps if I went to the range and tried the respective grips sequentially I might find the words to describe the difference.

No problems with the VZ grips (yet) as mentioned on this string but I will pay attention if a problem arises.

However, my R9 went "bang" without fail and the VZ grips felt good.

Mike,

Tracker,
I have always thought there should be a small groove machined around that post to keep the spring from sliding off, .

Interesting about the groove, just a few weeks ago a gunsmith was showing a Bersa 380 that had a groove for that trigger spring in the frame.

I have three sets of VZ grips. I only tested one set at the range. No problems as of yet. I always test my guns with something new prior to carrry.

I have never seen a Bersa 380 or held one, but if they have a grove on that pin they are on the ball in my book. ;D

Never have seen a Bersa 380 either.  Sounds like a winner in that respect.    :)

Goove on the pin, notwithstanding, the Bersa is a heavy, crude gun.

Why Venezuela? I thought the Bersa was made in Argentina?

In any case, we have discussed "bad guns" elsewhere on this forum and I would place Bersa in that category.

The only circumstance in which I would want a Bersa would be if the alternative were no gun at all. No disrespect to those who cannot afford a more expensive/quality gun, which, after all, this forum celebrates.

The laughing face looks like Hugo Chavez's smile. Regarding the Bersa which is a Walther clone I was sitting next to a gentleman at the range last year and he was shooting his wife's Bersa. The gun functioned flawlessly and his accuracy was superb at 15 yds. That was the first one I had seen but it was quite impressive in his hands.

Here is one opinion:

I have to admit that I have always looked down my nose at the Bersa and would never consider one.
However a handful of aquaintences have told me how great they are.  And I would just nod, thinking to myself, pos.

Maybe they are worth a look, kind of like the Makarovs.  They make great car guns.  Leave them in your car and if they get stolen: it was a decent pistol, but no great loss, except for possible legal problems. :o

The Genitron article which tracker inserted is noteworthy. But, I will keep my 1966 pre-Interarms .380 Walther PPK.

Again, Bersa fills a niche and has a market. However, as a desirable firearm? Not happening; at least for me.
